The Department of Psychiatry Child and Family Service Team provides a wide variety of outpatient services for children, adolescents, and families. Our team offers crisis services, medication evaluation, and treatment, as well as short-term individual, family and group psychotherapy. In addition, the team offers evaluations for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and a variety of specialized programs for eating disorders, teen obsessive-compulsive disorder, separating and divorcing families, preschool children, and adolescent depression. You do not need a referral to the department to be screened for services. If you are interested in an appointment, please call the department directly. Most parents are seen at a screening group, where they’ll receive a brief orientation of our services and a 30 minute interview with one of our clinicians.
Our Child Team has a wide array of therapeutic treatment modalities to offer. You may have the child’s parents or legal guardian contact our department directly to book an appointment. No referral is necessary. Most new clients begin with our Early Assessment Screening Group, which is a parent overview of the Child Team and the services that are available. We provide child and adolescent individual therapy, family therapy, group psychotherapy, and parent education. Our clinicians are well-trained licensed clinical social workers, psychologists, and a board certified child psychiatrist.
What is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist?
Child Psychiatrists are MDs or DOs with special training in the care of the emotional and behavioral problems of children and teenagers. The Child Psychiatrist works as part of the treatment team, especially when medications may be needed as part of treatment.
